What about a memory wall? The hgs submit a 100x100 pic of themselves their default userpic to be added into a graphic like the one baboona uses for discussion posts and they go bw once someone is evicted.

eta: a few people pointed out that default userpics were a better idea so that people were more easily recognizeable.
